Course Description:
This class covers the legal aspects of carrying a concealed handgun in today’s society. Relevant NH court cases and their legal outcomes are discussed in order to bring students to greater understanding of the benefits and hazards of lawfully carrying a firearm. We will also cover Holster options and observation/awareness skills will also be discussed.
Our range time will challenge students to exercise sound judgement in whether their firearm will be needed, and if so, will challenge their skill level to be effective in different situations. The student’s assessment of their skill level verses their actual skill level is a critical element in choosing a course of action, should one be required.
This is a 5 hour class, with half of that time spent on the range. Students are required to have previously taken a class that covers firearm safety, handgun administration and the proper fundamentals of shooting. These skills are taught in our MFL Basic Pistol class and the NRA Personal Protection in the Home class, although MFL classes are not a prerequisite. Students should also know how to safely draw their firearm from their holster; these skills are taught in our Practical Handgun Clinic or similar class.
