When faced with an unexpected or potentially dangerous situation, what is your first—and best—response?
Owning or carrying a firearm does not mean that every problem requires a firearm. Depending on the circumstances, your best first choice might be using a strong verbal command, creating distance, leaving the area, calling for help, providing medical aid, using a less-lethal defensive tool—or recognizing that immediate defensive action is necessary.
During this interactive Club Night, Candy will introduce us to Image-Based Decisional Drills. Participants will be presented with realistic images and challenged to evaluate only what they can actually see—without adding assumptions or overlooking important details.
The objective is not to solve an entire scenario or work through every tool available. It is to make one good first choice based on the situation in front of you.
Together, we will explore:
- How to evaluate a situation without making assumptions
- Why position, distance, surroundings, and context matter
- How situational awareness supports better decision-making
- Why a firearm should never be viewed as the answer to every problem
- How verbal commands, movement, communication, medical tools, and less-lethal options may fit into your personal-safety plan
- How different people can view the same situation from very different perspectives
This will be an engaging conversation—not a traditional lecture. Participants will be encouraged to examine the scenarios, consider their options, share their perspectives, and ask questions.

Live presentation, interactive scenarios, discussion, and Q&A with Candy.
7:00–8:00 PM Eastern
Optional range time for local Iron Rose attendees at Manchester Firing Line. Participating instructors and affiliated, satellite ranges in other areas are welcome to watch together and continue their own Club Night locally. Who May Attend?
The live presentation is free and open to everyone including new shooters, and those who do not own or carry a firearm.
No firearms experience is required to participate in the educational session.
Live Access and Replay
All registered participants may attend the live presentation. After the event, the edited replay will be available exclusively to members of the Rose Garden, Iron Rose Women’s Shooting Club’s national online community.
Registration is required to receive the Zoom access information or reserve an in-person seat.
